"I miss her snoring" are the words Dave expressed to me as he talked about his wife. Dave, like so many, lost a love one to Hurricane Katrina. But she was not killed on the day of the storm, only later as the result of its aftermath. You see, her blood pressure was never the same after that tragic disaster...

As with many the pressure of trying to move on has been a very tough journey.

Walking around talking and listening to people tell their stories of what they experienced you truly come to realize that I truly have nothing to complain about.

Dave lost his wife, partner, best friend after 42 years. She used to tease him about his snoring and he about her’s. Now he misses that so much along with the loving care and comfort that only she could provide. It hurts him all day and everyday but he says that he has comfort that the Lord is watching over her and him. You see losing her he said has brought him so much closer to the Lord. He has learned to put his trust in the Lord and faith in him. This has help Dave not only move forward but also to witness to others who are having difficulty adjusting.

Moving away from the region is not an option. So many people say that, but he knows that God has got him here for a reason. Many people come from all over to volunteer to help rebuild and Dave is able to share the goodness of the Lord with them. You see God has not called him to run, but to show people what God can do if you just let him be God. Trust in the Lord. He knows your cares and your needs.

Those words ring so true. Unfortunately some have not understood that yet. As I was there I got word that a young lady had took her life. She is one of many that have done so because they think and feel that this life is not worth living. They feel they are forgotten, not cared about. Their stories are the ones that we don’t hear about, but do exists and need to be told.

There is so much more work to be done. Homes to be rebuilt, lives to be touched. If you can, become involved. Help not only the victims of this Hurricane but where ever you can. There are so many troubles in the world today but God has given you the decree to help his people. Become a Dave and be a witness of his goodness. You maybe the only God that people see. Doing his will, will give hope to the hopeless and they can see that God has truly sent a messenger
